European Drugs Summer School 2020 edition

Resumo:

Introduction

Ten-day course in Lisbon involving scientific experts, praticioners, EMCDDA experts and invited keynote speakers

Presentation
This two-week summer school prepares professionals and students to meet the complex policy challenges that face Europe in the field of drugs. Involving scientific experts from the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA), but also university professors and policy-makers, it provides a multi-disciplinary and inclusive approach to the study of the drug problem in Europe and beyond. As this summer school will give 6 ECTS credits for its courses, students can easily transfer credits to other European universities using the ECTS system. Credits will be attributed formally to post graduate students (Master and PHD), but it is possible to allow undergraduate to use these credits in their home universities.

Credits and Requirements

This European Summer School will give ECTS credits for its courses. Students can easily transfer credits to other European universities using the ECTS system. Credits will be attributed formally to postgraduate students (Masters and Ph.D.), but it is possible to allow undergraduates to use these credits in their home universities. As one credit represents around 25 to 30 working hours, 6 credits will be attributed to those participating in the summer school, provided that they are evaluated. In order to comply with the working hours requested, students are required to do ahead of time the assigned readings; and – for those who volunteer and/or are selected - to make a short presentation about their research / expertise.
A Multiple Choice Questionnaire (MCQ) will be required at the end of the summer school, including questions on class content, class discussions and readings (70% of final score). For those who want to be formally evaluated, ISCTE-IUL will issue a Specialized Studies Diploma with the final grade - if they successfully concluded.
Students may also require attendance certificates.

 • Scholarships

In addition, a maximum of 5 scholarships (of 50 % of the total fee of 700 €) will be offered to eligible students by ISCTE. Those would be attributed on the basis of merit (40 %), travel costs (20 %) and GDP of the candidate's country of residence (40 %). The scholarship can only be requested on the first phase.

Deadline: In order to be considered, applicants must fill the application form, indicating that they apply for a scholarship, by 3 February 2020. The University will respond to all scholarship applicants, by email, by 10 February 2020.
